About Xurain

A hobbyist-run knowledge hub for bioactive terrariums and exotic-pet keeping — built to answer the questions we wished someone had answered for us.

What Xurain is

Xurain is an independent guide site about terrariums, vivariums, and the animals and plants that live in them. We publish practical, plain-language buying guides and care explainers — how to build a bioactive setup, what gear actually matters, and the mistakes that cost beginners their first animal or plant. Everything is written to be read by a real keeper making a real decision, not to fill space around ads.

We are not a store. Where we recommend equipment, we link to retailers (mainly Amazon) as an affiliate — explained in full on our disclosure page.

Who writes it

Xurain is written and edited by Theophil, a hobbyist keeper who has built and maintained bioactive terrariums and vivariums for geckos, frogs, and clean-up-crew invertebrates. The site started as a personal reference — notes on what worked, what failed, and which gear was worth the money — and grew into a public library.

We write from hands-on keeping experience, not veterinary authority. For anything medical or species-specific, we point you to a current care sheet or an exotics vet, and we say so plainly in the guide.

How we make money

Affiliate commissions and display advertising. Neither changes what we recommend — see our editorial policy for exactly how recommendations are chosen and our affiliate disclosure for the money side.
